Ways To Easily Adjust Your Reading Glasses at Home
Share
No one wants glasses that don’t fit their head, which is why you should always take your time when picking out potential frames. However, things can change, and you may find that your glasses don’t fit your head anymore. While you can’t fix everything, there are a few things you can try at home to adjust your reading glasses to best fit your face.
Change How High the Glasses Sit
If you notice your glasses are too high or too low on the front of your face, then you can try to adjust the nose pads. Hold your glasses in your non-dominant hand, supporting the lenses. If your glasses are too high, gently push the nose pads apart to lower the height. If the glasses are too low, push the nose pads together.
Fix Sliding or Overly Tight Glasses
If you notice your glasses are too tight on your ears or keep sliding down your face, you can use a similar tactic to adjust them. Again, put your glasses in your non-dominant hand, supporting them right before the earpieces. Then, you can gently press the glasses downward to tighten the earpieces to hold onto your head. Conversely, you can gently push the glasses upward to release the tension on your ears. Remember to run the earpieces under hot but not boiling water for a few minutes before you attempt this.
Adjust the Pressure on Your Temples
The tightness of your glasses is a bit harder to change, but it’s possible. All it takes is proper support of your glasses with your non-dominant hand and a gentle push in the right direction. You should push the end pieces with your dominant hand, inward to tighten and outward to loosen.
As long as you’re careful, all these adjustments can make a big impact on how your glasses sit on your face. However, bigger adjustments are best left to opticians and people with professional training. After all, you don’t want to damage your glasses.
